Avnet Integrated Resources’ ROUND2 INC. Donates to The Nature Conservancy in Observance of Earth Day Initiative

AUSTIN, Texas – May 3, 2012 – ROUND2 INC., an Avnet (NYSE:AVT) company within Avnet Integrated Resources and leading eRecycling service provider announced today that it will be donating $1,480 in observance of their Earth Day initiative that ran throughout the month of April. ROUND2 pledged to donate a tree for every 5,000 pounds of electronics processed in the month of April. With the assistance of employees and several sponsored corporate electronics recycling events in April, ROUND2 was able to accumulate and process 7.4 million pounds of electronics. The Plant a Billion Trees campaign, started by The Nature Conservancy, was established to help rebuild the Atlantic forest on the coast of Brazil. For every dollar donated, one tree will be planted and will directly help The Nature Conservancy’s work in the region.

“The Atlantic Forest is one of the biggest and considered one of the world’s most endangered tropical forests,” said Randy Weiss, ROUND2’s president. “We are excited about the opportunity to work with The Nature Conservancy regarding their reforestation efforts in Brazil especially since we have a presence there.”

The event, known as the Recycling Round-Up, is in its second year and will be held at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on April 21^st, 2012, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Anyone interested in dropping off their electronics for recycling is encouraged to visit the Denver Broncos Game Plan Green website for complete event details, including a full list of acceptable electronic items and the associated costs for recycling CRT monitors and televisions. Participating in the event will be members of the ROUND2 Recycling Team as well as Denver Broncos Alumni and Miles the Mascot.

AUSTIN, Texas – April 12, 2012 – ROUND2 INC., an Avnet company within Avnet Integrated Resources and leading eRecycling service provider announced today that it has been recommended for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications as well as the Responsible Recycling (R2) Practices certification for its processing facility in Atlanta, Ga. To hold ISO and OHSAS certifications, an organization must meet specific requirements for the associated standard. ISO 9001 relates to quality management systems, ISO 14001 relates to environmental management systems and OHSAS 18001 involves occupational health and safety management systems. Endorsed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Responsible Recycling (R2) Practices for Electronics Recyclers establish a hierarchy for the safe and responsible handling of electronic waste through reuse and resource recovery.

“This recommendation for ISO and R2 certifications at our newest 258,000 square foot processing facility in Atlanta is a milestone for ROUND2,” said Randy Weiss, ROUND2’s president. “All of our processing facilities will now be ISO and R2 certified, demonstrating our dedication to transparent environmental processing and our efforts to further differentiate ROUND2 as a trusted partner for the secure reuse and recycling of end-of-life assets and electronics.”

The word processing system that changed Isaac Asimov’s mind about writing???

The Radio Shack TRS-80 Model III was released in July, 1980 and was available for $699 in its base configuration or $2,495 with 32K, dual drives. The Model III had a 12-inch screen, which displayed a standard 96-character ASCII set with both upper and lower case characters. It also displayed 64 graphics characters and 160 special TRS-80 characters. There was also a 12-key numeric keypad. The Model III used the Z-80 CPU and up to 48K of RAM. A parallel printer port was also provided. Data storage was provided by either cassette or an optional floppy disk controller, and up to two internally mounted floppy disk drives. This system currently sits in our eComm department in Coppell, Texas awaiting someone who wants to give it a new home.
